Red - Chested Cuckoo
Description
This is one of the eleven different cuckoos which migrate to Botswana in the summer months. The male is the only cuckoo in the region with a rufous breast. It is a common breeding inter-African migrant, present from September to March.
Voice
Its main call is a persistent and monotonous piet-my-vrou throughout the day and night.

Behaviour and habitat
Its habitat consists of forests, closed woodland, riverine bush and wooded suburban areas. It parasitizes the Cape Robin-chat and at least fifteen other species. |
